“Not For Nothing” is an arresting encaustic and mixed-media piece that pulses with raw energy and layered complexity. A cracked and timeworn background, layered and scraped, reveals the history of its making, whispering of forgotten places and lost conversations. Natural yellows, white, and burnt orange intertwine, bleeding through translucent wax like faded echoes. Sudden, reckless rivers of molten yellow and white carve through the surface, their glossy, three-dimensional presence spilling, stretching, cascading. These liquid gestures evoke impulse, urgency, and the beauty of chaos. The piece is alive with marks and intuitive strokes dance across the surface, some deliberate, others seemingly a product of natural happenstance. The piece is visceral, textural and evocative, like the remnants of an overheard argument, a reckless decision, or the strange poetry of human folly. A moment captured in its imperfect and wild disorder.
