In this Post-Formalist painting, Sheldon uses the vibrant energy of a forest alive with color and movement to create a vibrant, rich painting. The Formalist precedent requires that the physical presence of the canvas itself maintains the primary expression of Reality. The construction of an image within that reality is tempered by that understanding. Each brushstroke provides individual dynamic energy on the surface of the canvas. The Artist's touch and feeling are carried into every brushstroke - creating a dynamic, vibrant energy on the surface of the canvas that seemingly wants to press out beyond the rectangle of the canvas, itself.
